BLUEFIELD – Tiyanna Scott and Cierra Scott both dropped in 13 points, but Point University overcame at 14-point deficit and defeated women's basketball 64-61 in overtime in an AAC contest Saturday afternoon at the Dome Gymnasium.
The Rams controlled the game throughout, leading 23-19 after the first quarter and 41-30 at halftime. Point mounted a comeback in the third quarter, cutting BC's lead to 54-50 as the teams headed into the fourth period. Neither team could muster points in the final 10 minutes and the teams went into overtime tied at 59. The Skyhawks out-scored the Rams 5-2 in the extra period to take the win.
Emily Hart was strong for BC was she had just missed a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds. Kianna Campbell had seven rebounds and seven assists.
After shooting 50 percent in the opening half, the Rams managed to connect on only 27 percent of its shots in the second half. The Rams played tough defense throughout, holding Point to 35 percent shooting in the game.
Point's Nicole Izuagie came off the bench to lead all scorers with 19 points.
