Bluefield University Athletic Communications Details

The Bluefield University Athletic Communications Office serves as the primary outlet for information pertaining to the college's 17 intercollegiate sports. The department provides media services and is responsible for all public and media relations involving athletics. It also manages the athletic department's website BCRams.com, compiles statistical and historical records, produces publications and manages promotional activities for the athletic department.

Media Information and Policies

Interviews
It is requested that all interviews with Bluefield University coaches and student-athletes be arranged through the Athletics Communications Office in advance. After games and athletic events, coaches and student-athletes will be available for interview following a brief 10-minute cooling off period.

Practices
Practices are generally open to media members, with coaches owning the right to close practices at their own discretion. If a media member is planning to attend practice, please inform the Athletics Communications Office.

Credentials
Media members covering an athletic contest hosted by Bluefield University are asked to possess a credential. Local media will be issued credentials prior to each athletic season. It is requested that visiting media contact the Athletics Communication Office 24 hours in advance to obtain a credential. Last minute media are still welcome, but prior knowledge of attendance is appreciated.

Press Conferences, Media Days
From time to time, Bluefield University will hold a press conference or media day for the local outlets. Primary outlets will be notified as far in advance as possible.

Primary Outlets
Those wishing to be a primary outlet of Bluefield University athletics will regularly receive news releases, game previews, game recaps, box scores and other notes of interest. To be included on the primary media contact list, notify the Athletic Communications Office.

Game Programs, Notes, Media Information
Pregame information will be distributed to the media when available. If notes are not available, the Athletic Communications Office will be glad to assist media members to ensure accurate information.

Technology (Radio)
Visiting media members wishing to cover a Bluefield University hosted athletic event should contact the Athletic Communications Office well in advance, in case a special effort for technological needs is in order. Radio should be requested one week in advance.

Photographers
It is requested that photographers utilize standard shooting locations depending on sport. Please talk with the Athletic Communications Office at events to get more specific information, including whether there are any restricted areas for a specific sporting event.

Conference and National Information
Bluefield University competes nationally in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) while being a full member in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
