Box Score KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Bluefield Rams men's basketball team lives to play another day at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament. The Rams, seeded No. 5, defeated the No. 4 Milligan Buffaloes 68-58, Wednesday morning in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort and Convention Center.
Two-time losers to the Buffaloes in the regular season, the Rams were determined not to fall in the third meeting of the schools this season. The first half was a defensive struggle which saw both teams hold small leads and shoot 35 percent from the floor. The Rams carried a 30-28 lead into the break.
In the second half Bluefield pulled away in the final eight minutes, opening an eight point lead that eventually grew to the final margin of victory, 10 points.
Sidney Knox led the Rams and all scorers with 21 points. Including four-of-seven shooting from behind the three point line. Zeke Williams finished with 15 points. Cordaris Towns pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds and blocked a shot along with two steals. Eight of Towns' 10 rebounds were defensive.
Milligan's Kurt Brooks led the Buffaloes with 18 points. Julian Bailey added 11 points with nine rebounds.
Bluefield, now 18-11 will take on the tournament's top seed and No. 14 in the nation Tennessee Wesleyan, Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the AAC semifinals.
