Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. – Bluefield College men's basketball coach Richard Morgan reached a milestone Monday night as the Bluefield College Rams defeated the Reinhardt University Eagles 79-72 at the Dome Gymnasium.  With the win Morgan gained his 100^th coaching victory at BC.
"I am honored and blessed to reach this milestone at Bluefield College. It would not have been possible without the great players and coaches that have been with me during my time here," Morgan said following the game.
The milestone victory was not an easy one for the Rams as Reinhardt led early in the game and cut a 16-point second half Bluefield lead to four in the final minutes before the Rams put the game away.
The visitors held an 11 point in the first half before a pair of late buckets, including one from beyond half court at the buzzer by Sidney Knox, broke a 33-all tie and allowed the Rams to take a 39-33 advantage into the locker room.
In the second half the Rams took control and opened a 16-point lead with 4:11 to play. But Reinhardt, coached by Morgan's predecessor at BC, Jason Gillespie, did not give up. Bluefield sealed the game from the free throw line in the final minutes to claim the win and put Morgan at the century mark for coaching victories.
Cordaris Towns led Bluefield with 17 points, eight blocks, nine rebounds and a steal. Knox had 15 points along with also had seven assists and a steal. Zeke Williams tallied 12 points with six boards while Joseph McClain scored 11 with eight boards. Alonzo Howard scored nine and pulled down seven rebounds.
Justin Zachary was Reinhardt's top scorer with 13. Corey Ricks and Josh Cooper added 12 apiece and Justin Bridges contributed 11.
Bluefield improved to 13-9 overall and 5-7 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Reinhardt dropped to 12-11 and 6-7 in AAC play.
The Rams return to the court Wednesday at Milligan.
