Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. – The men's version of the Battle of the Bluefields took place following the women's game Wednesday night at the Dome and the Bluefield College Rams won over the Bluefield State Big Blues, 90-73.
Bluefield State made its first trip to the Dome under its new coaching staff, and ex Rams coaches Derrick Price and Rodney Casey. The Dome was packed and electric. An estimated 400 fans were on hand supporting both BC and Bluefield State.
Cordraris Townes had a monstrous game with 30 points and 18 rebounds. He also added four blocks in leading the Rams to their first home win of the season. Khadier Fulcher played a key role in the victory totaling seven points, 13 rebounds, along with three steals. Sidney Knox pitched in with 10 points, Isiah Gill and Jorge Concepcion III each had nine points.
The Rams shot the ball well all game, finishing at a 51% clip from the floor, as well as a 50% clip (9/18) from downtown. The Big Blues shot only 35% from the floor. BC dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Big Blues 47-31.
After starting the season 0-7, the Rams have now won two straight. Both the men and women's team won their Bluefield Battle, and will both head to Point University on Saturday for AAC competition.
