Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. - The University of Pikeville Bears used a strong second half to defeat the Bluefield College men's basketball team in the Rams' season opener 81-65, Oct. 28 in Pikeville at the Pikeville Classic.
The first half saw the two teams play tightly with UPike leading 38-36 at the break. However, in the second half the home team out-scored BC 43-29 to take the win.
Tony Hood topped the Bluefield scoring column with 13 points and he added two assists. Cordaris Townes had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Townes also had five blocks. Teyon Henry contributed 11 points and three boards for the Rams.
Trey Rakes led Pikeville and all scorers with 21 points.
