Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. – The end result is all that matters. The Bluefield College women's volleyball team defeated Kentucky Christian University in a five set match Tuesday night at Dome Gymnasium. The beginning and the end were great for BC and it was games one, two and five that propelled the team to their second consecutive victory, 25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 16-25, 15-10.
In game one the Rams opened a 9-5 lead and maintained a four-point advantage throughout that grew to six at 17-11 on a strong kill by Lexie Mocarski. KCU scored the next three points to close the gap and pulled to within one and later tied it and went ahead. BC drew even at 20 on a Rachel Alley block and put the game away with Ashlyn VanDyke serving Alley executed a block for game point.
The second set saw the teams battle early before Bluefield pulled away. A hard kill by Amber Taylor-Inge was instrumental in the Rams' run during which Bluefield built a 10-point lead at 19-9. Bluefield took the win 25-19.
There was a huge momentum swing in game three as Kentucky Christian was determined not to be swept out of town in three games. The Knights built a 5-1 lead and Bluefield played from behind the entire game. The Rams got to within two on a powerful kill by Ellen Johnson that made it 23-21, and later came within a point of tying, but miscues gave KCU the final two points and a 25-23 win.
It was all Kentucky Christian in the fourth game as the visitors kept the momentum and rolled to a 25-16 win forcing a fifth and deciding game.
Big "Mo" shifted back to BC in the fifth game as the Rams built a 6-2 lead before KCU fought back and tied it at six. With Bluefield ahead 8-6 the teams switched sides of the court and the Rams went on a 7-4 rally to win the game and match, 15-10.
Camry McCroskey had 50 assists in the match for Bluefield and Taylor-Inge had three blocks solo and six block assists.
Bluefield returns to the court Friday night as Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Truett-McConnell visits Dome Gymnasium for a 6:30 match.
