Four Rams Named CSC Academic All-District

12/18/2025 2:55:00 PM

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – Four members of the Bluefield University women's volleyball program were recognized as Academic All-District selections by College Sports Communicators, honoring their success both on the court and in the classroom.

Junior outside hitter Chesed Russell (Graphic Design and Digital Marketing), senior defensive specialist/libero Eledy Torres (Sports Communication and Digital Marketing), senior setter Izabella Lechuga (Psychology), and middle blocker Abbey Boehm (K–12 Special Education) each earned the distinction following strong academic performances during the 2025 season.

The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes who maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 while playing in 90 percent of team's matches or starting in 66 percent. Honorees are selected based on a combination of academic achievement and athletic contributions throughout the season.

Torres anchored the Rams' back row throughout the year and ranked among the Appalachian Athletic Conference leaders in digs, while Russell provided consistent production on the outside. Lechuga served as the team's primary setter, directing the offense, and Boehm contributed at the net as a middle blocker on both ends of the court.

With their Academic All-District honors, all four Rams advance to the Academic All-America ballot, with recipients to be announced later this month.
