Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. - On a night where
Jasmine Morrow was honored for becoming the all-time kill leader, she executed a kill for the match's final point that gave the Bluefield College Rams a 3-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference wiin over the Point University Skyhawks, Friday night at Dome Gymnasium 25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 25-9.
A week ago against Truett-McConnell, Morrow passed Megan Criss with her 1,154th kill. Friday night at the Dome she picked up another eight kills in Bluefield's win.
In game one BC jumped ahead early and had four point leads on two occasions thanks to kills by
Camry McCroskey and
Rachel Alley. The game saw some long volleys and Point eventually tied and later took the lead 17-15 forcing BC coach
Buddy Gallemore to call time. An ace by
Amber Taylor-Inge put BC ahead 19-17 at which time Point called time. The Skyhawks charged back and tied the game at 21, but Bluefield went on a 4-2 rally to win game one 25-23. The winning point coming on a Morrow kill.
Point took the early lead and was up by three, 12-9. The Skyhawks moved ahead 14-10 at which time BC called time. The Rams responded by scoring four straight points and tying the game at 14 on a Taylor-Inge block. After ties in the teens Bluefield moved ahead 20-17 on a Taylor-Inge kill. With Morrow serving the Rams scored six straight points to take a 23-17 lead. The 25-21 Bluefield win came on a
Mikaela Hurst kill.
Point again took the early lead by four and the Rams battled back to tie at nine. Point proceeded to go on a 6-2 run to take a 15-11 lead, but with
Camry McCroskey serving the Rams scored four in a row to knot the game. Bluefield later erased a three point Point lead and went back ahead, 20-19 on an Alley block. Point, following a timeout, closed the game on a 6-1 run to take a 25-22 win.
The Rams controlled the fourth game from the outset, building an 8-2 lead. Hard kills by Morrow and Taylor-Inge helped Bluefield go ahead 17-4. The lead stretched to 15 at 22-7 and BC ended the game on Morrow's eighth kill of the match, taking a 25-7 win.
Alley led BC with 17 kills and Taylor-Inge had 11. McCroskey had 43 assists and nine digs.
Ashlyn VanDyke had 18 digs and Taylor-Inge had two service aces. McCroskey and Mocarski had an ace apiece.
Bluefield improved to 9-8 overall and 5-7 in the AAC. The Rams go out of conference for action Saturday as they participate in a tri-match at Bluefield State College along with Ohio Christian University.
