BLUEFIELD, Va. - One thing has been missing since Bluefield College revived its football program in 2012... a home victory. The Rams won three games last season but all were away from home. Saturday afternoon BC will take to the Mitchell Stadium turf, entertaining the Georgetown College Tigers in a Mid-South Conference East Division game.
Bluefield is coming off a game in which Reinhardt scored 66 unanswered points and rushed for 590 yards. The Rams and Eagles were tied at 14 before the current No. 13 Reinhardt took control midway through the opening period.
The Rams are also banged up at key positions. Leading rushers
Adrian Pope and
Marion Harris are nursing injuries. Both players have run for 381 yards this season. At quarterback
Cason Whitt has completed 33-of-80 passes for 502 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions.
Mason Maples is the leading receiver with 11 catches for 134 yards.
Cory Mabry has nine catches for 117 yards and
Semaj Tisdale has seven for 119.
Defensively
Carlton Toussaint has a pair of interceptions and is third in tackles with 43.
Harry Casseus and
Ernest Moore lead the defense with 53 and 52 tackles respectively.
Georgetown comes to town fresh off its first win of the season, 37-0 over Kentucky Christian. Terry Johnson leads the GC rushing attack with 262 yards and J.J. Jude has run for 178. Quarterback Ozzie Mann has thrown for 690 hyards on 67-of-116 passes. He has thrown four touchdowns and three interceptions.
Alan Williams is the leading receiver with 21 catches for 202 yards. Three players, Terry Johnson, Ross Cox and Bart Bell have 10 receptions apiece.
Josh Harris leads the Georgetown defense with 31 tackles and Jordan Nicoll has 27.
Kickoff between the Rams (0-6) and the Tigers (1-4) is set for 1:30 p.m. at Mitchell Stadium. The forecast calls for temperatures in the low 60s with rain.
