Bluefield Voted Third in AAC Preseason Poll

WALESKA, Ga. – The Bluefield University football team has been picked to finish third in the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, released by the conference office Tuesday morning.

2024 IN REVIEW
The Rams finished the season 5-6 overall with a 4-2 mark in the AAC, earning a third-place finish in the conference. After a slow start, BU rebounded by winning four of its last six contests including a two-game win streak to close out the season. Quincy Robinson took home AAC Defensive Player of the Year after registering 68 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks. Robinson also became the program's all-time sacks leader with 25 career sacks. Additionally, offensive line coach Kelly Scott was honored as the AAC Assistant Coach of the Year.
 
2025 SCHEDULE
BU kicks off the 2025 season at Mitchell Stadium on August 30 with a matchup against Thomas University (Ga.). The Rams then hit the road for back-to-back games against The University of the Cumberlands (September 6) and NCAA Division I opponent Presbyterian College (September 20). Bluefield defends Mitchell Stadium again on September 27 against Virginia University of Lynchburg during Youth Night. Two more road games follow with Point University (October 4) and Reinhardt (October 18). On October 25, Bluefield matches up in a home contest against AAC pole setter Pikeville for Pink Out. Kentucky Christian (November 1) rounds out the road schedule for the Rams, as games against Rio Grande (November 8) and Union Commonwealth (Ky.) conclude the 2025 calendar.
 
THE RETURNERS
Offensively, Bluefield returns its top two rushers from 2024 in senior Adbul Kaloko and sophomore Rayjuan Traynham. Kaloko paced the backfield with 287 rushing yards and three touchdowns while Traynham rushed for 254 yards and two scores. BU's top receiver returns for his senior season in Christian Mack. Mack caught 50 passes for 576 yards and found the end zone once in 2024. Defensively, sophomore Titus Holte brings back the most defensive production from last season where he tallied 57 total tackles and grabbed an interception. Sophomore defensive back Eric Boyd tied for the team-lead with two interceptions along with 29 tackles. Finally, sophomore defensive lineman Alex Gutierrez picked up five tackles for loss with 2.5 sacks.
 
NEW FACES
Head coach Dewey Lusk has bolstered the roster with 15 transfers for the 2025 season. Additionally, 82 true freshmen are participating in fall camp for the first time, adding depth and fresh talent across the board.
