BLUEFIELD, Va. – Bluefield College outrebounded #20 Cumberland 50-28 and owned a 38-18 advantage in points in the paint, as the Lady Rams upended the visiting Bulldogs, Thursday night in Mid-South Conference action at the Dome Gymnasium.

Bluefield (7-5, 2-2 MSC) picked up its second-straight MSC victory with the win, and claimed its first win over a ranked opponent since knocking off #6 Georgetown College, Nov. 15, 2012.

Asia Wheeler went 7-for-12 from the field for a game-high 21 points. Teammate
Janee Simmons was close behind, going for 19 points. Both claimed double-doubles for the evening, pulling down 12 and 14 rebounds, respectively. Tolliver completed the strong inside presence, tallying eight points and grabbing nine rebounds.

Teqa McNeal tallied 10 points, had six rebounds and handed out four assists.

Tasia Blue led CU (7-6, 3-2 MSC) with a career-best 17 points, with TaCouya Allen and Casie Cowan adding 11 and 10, respectively. BC gave Blue space to shoot the three, as she shot 5-for-14 from deep. However, Allen and Cowan only combined to hit 2-of-11 of their three-point tries.

Bluefield doubled up the visitors early, 14-7, led by six points from
Alexis Grant.

Wheeler recorded seven straight BC points in just over a minute's time to earn the Lady Rams' first double-digit lead of the night, 29-18, with 3:21 left in the opening half.

Cumberland tried to close the gap before the break as Layce Colter and Blue hit three-pointers, but BC took a 34-26 lead at the half.

The Bulldogs opened the second half with five-straight points to trim the deficit to three, but a Simmons jumper sparked the senior's strong second half, halted the threat and pushed the cushion back to five, 36-31.

Another trey from Blue made CU's deficit seven later on, but BC reeled off nine straight points in just under three minutes to open up a 59-43 lead with 8:35 to play. Wheeler started the run with a layin and also added a pair of free throws, while
Maryah Mazyck and Simmons added three and two points in the stretch.

Bluefield cruised in over the final five minutes of play, taking the 74-56 win.

Sixteen offensive rebounds for BC led to 18 second-chance points, once again showing the Lady Rams' domination of the inside game.

Bluefield shot 28-for-63 (44.4%) for the evening, while the Bulldogs struggled from the floor, going 20-for-59 (33.9%), including 8-of-29 (27.6%) from beyond-the-arc. Bluefield hit 17-of-21 (81%) of its free throws.
