Box Score 2 Traveling to Circleville, Ohio, to kick off the 2013 season, the Bluefield College men's and women's soccer programs both picked up season opening victories against Ohio Christian University on Tuesday. The women's squad racked up a 6-0 win, while the men followed with a 6-2 victory over to the hosting Trailblazers' programs.

The Lady Rams outshot OCU, 17-6, en route to the victory and 1-0 record. Senior
Kayla Richardson was victorious in net, posting the sixth shutout of her career.

Despite giving up two goals early in the first half, the men squared the game before half, then recorded four more unanswered goals to close the game with a 6-2 victory.

Bluefield's first marker came on an own goal, as a
Forrest Yates pass was deflected into the net by an OCU defender.

Freshman
Junior Espinoza knotted the game, 2-2, punching in a scramble around the goal after a corner kick.

According to head men's coach Peter Dryer, the Rams came out with a lot more energy and quickly generated more scoring opportunities.

Jacob Mader tallied his first goal of the year, sending home what turned to be the game winner off an assist from sophomore
Adam Hern.

BC jumped to a two goal lead shortly after, with
Michael Callaghan lifting the ball just out of reach of the OCU keeper in the 75
th minute.
Nick Rivadeneira claimed the assist on the play.

Sophomore
Marco Bonfiglio made it a 5-2 advantage for the visitors, as he took a pass from Espinoza, dribbled past the keeper and found the back of the net.

Hector Comacho rounded out BC's scoring, as midfielder Espinoza once again claimed the assist on the play.

Jefferson Watson played the first half in the net for BC, while
Justin Cook saw action during the second half.

The Rams return to the pitch on Friday at Ferrum College, before opening up at home on Saturday against Virginia Intermont. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the East River Soccer Complex.
