Bluefield University Announces Men’s Soccer Coaching Transition

11/25/2025 10:22:00 AM

BLUEFIELD, Va. – Bluefield University Athletics announced today that Gabe Blakman, head coach of the Rams men's soccer program, will be transitioning out of his coaching role.

Blakman has been part of the Bluefield men's soccer program for nearly a decade. After competing for the Rams as a student-athlete from 2018 to 2019, he joined the coaching staff in 2020 and served as an assistant coach for three seasons. He was elevated to head coach prior to the 2023 campaign, helping guide the program through continued growth while prioritizing culture, academics, and student-athlete development.

"We are grateful for Gabe and the dedication he has shown to our men's soccer program," said Corey Mullins, Vice President of Student Development/Athletics. "His leadership, mentorship, and genuine care for our student-athletes have been evident from day one—first as a player, then as a coach. We wish him the very best as he takes this next step in his professional journey."

A national search for the next head men's soccer coach will begin immediately.
