Bluefield pulled within four at 17-13, but SSU answered the Rams once again and closed on an 8-3 run.
Â
While the teams battled back and forth during the opening portion of set two, SSU pulled away with a strong closing run. The teams were square at eight apiece, before the Bear's Hannah Gephart served 14 consecutive times to open a wide advantage en route to the 25-11 set two win.
Â
Despite being down 2-0, the Rams put together a challenging third game. The two sides went back and forth, eventually being tied at 18. The Bears took a 21-20 edge, before two kills a BC attack error and a final kill sealed the contest.

Sydney Spencer tallied 20 assists. Morrow also had 13 digs to lead the Rams.
Â
The RedStorm then knocked off Bluefield in straight sets, 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 on Wednesday evening. Rio Grande claimed the first two sets without trailing, as BC struggled to get its attack going and registered negative attacking percentages.
Â
Bluefield once again battled in the third set, and rattled off three consecutive points to pull within one, 17-16. However, a large rally of eight points closed out the set and match.
Â
The Rams were once again led by 11 kills from Morrow. Spencer totaled 17 assists and Morrow had 15 digs.
Hannah Winter also recorded double-digit digs, with 10.
