ATHENS, W. Va. – Despite facing a pair of one-goal deficits, the Bluefield College men's soccer team bounced back each time, forcing overtime and eventually leading to the 2-2 tie, Wednesday evening against Concord University.

The Rams' record moves to 8-6-1 for the season and they remain unbeaten in their last five outings. Meanwhile, Concord is now 3-8-1.

Bluefield controlled much of the game, firing 20 shots overall with 14 being on target—the team's third highest total of the season. But, Concord made the most of their scoring opportunities, netting the two goals on just five shots on goal. They totaled 15 shots for the game.

Concord got on the board first in the ninth minute, thanks to a Corey Gaylor goal, assisted by Steve Lemire. The score ended BC keeper
Jefferson Watson's impressive span of not allowing a goal, which covered time in five games at approximately 342 minutes.

Bluefield broke through in the 33
rd minute, with
Jacob Mader netting his seventh goal of the season. Organizing the attack in the midfield,
James Gunn found Mader along the left side of the field to convert the goal and score the game, 1-1.

The hosting Mountain Lions struck again in the final minute of the first half. An initial shot clamored off the post and bounced back into play for Concord, where Ryan Forde beat Watson as the netminder tried to recover after making a save attempt on the first shot.

Early on in the second half the two squads went back and forth, but Bluefield continued to push hard on the offensive end. The Rams erased the one-goal deficit once again, following a Concord foul in the 80
th minute.

With the foul setting up a free kick part way between midfield and the box, Mader served the ball toward the right goalpost, as
Nick Rivadeneira converting on the header. The goal was Reivadeneira's first of the year. Meanwhile, the assist gave Mader a three-point game, his fourth game of the season with at least three points.

The remaining 10 minutes went scoreless, while neither team could strike in the 20 minutes of extra time either. Concord had two shots in the first overtime period, while the Rams had two shots of their own in the final overtime.

Watson finished the contest with three saves for BC, while Mitchell Thompson and Trevor Hoxworth both allowed one goal apiece for CU and made seven and five saves, respectively.

Bluefield returns to Mid-South Conference play this Saturday. Their game at the University of the Cumberlands is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
