Box Score 3 BLUEFIELD - The BC baseball team improved to 21-13 on the season and 7-8 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference after taking two of three games against Truett McConnell University over the weekend at Bowen Field.
The Rams took a 2-1 win in Saturday's series opener.
Erik Williams slammed a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to break a scoreless tie. It was Williams' 15th home run of the season.
Jose Perez and
Nolan Soto had a pair of hits apiece for Bluefield, one of Perez's safeties a double.
Mike Tinucci got the win in relief for Bluefield. Tinucci came in for starter
Christian Sinnott who left in the second inning, with an apparent injury. Tinucci worked seven-and-two-third innings, allowed seven hits and the one run scored on him was unearned. He struck out eight and walked two.
The visiting Bears took game one of Sunday's doubleheader 11-5
TMU broke open a tight game with eight runs, all unearned in the third inning.
Matt Ferreira and
James Rangel each homered for the Rams, while Perez knocked out three hits and
Jordan Jackson had two.
The Rams rebounded in the nightcap to take a 4-3 win and the series.
Three runs in the fifth gave Bluefield the lead that it never relinquished.
Chaz Miller got the complete game pitching victory. Miller worked seven innings and gave up five hits. He struck out three and walked one.
Bobby Mena and
Xavier Salas were both 2-for-3 at the plate.
Bluefield hosts Hiwassee, Tuesday in a non-conference doubleheader at Bowen Field.
