Kingsport, Tenn. – April 30, 2025 — The Bluefield University Rams closed out their 2025 season with grit and determination, going toe-to-toe with Columbia International University (CIU) in a competitive 4–1 contest at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament held at Hunter Wright Stadium.
The Rams (19–25) showcased strong pitching and steady effort throughout the morning matchup. Senior right-hander Joe Gaither turned in a solid start, working five innings and keeping CIU off balance with a mix of location and poise. He was backed by a sharp bullpen effort from Noah Burtner and Tyrone Woods, who combined for three shutout innings, striking out six and allowing just four base runners.
Offensively, the Rams got on the board in the fourth inning when Matt Beisecker came around to score on a clutch RBI single by Nico Guerra. John Greenawalt, Jacob Savoy, and Sean Seale also added hits for Bluefield in the well-contested game.
CIU's starter D. Thames pitched a complete game, but the Rams continued to put pressure on him with quality at-bats and hard contact throughout the lineup. Despite the outcome, Bluefield competed with heart and discipline to the very last pitch.
The Rams conclude a season marked by growth, resilience, and promising performances across the roster. With a talented core and valuable postseason experience now under their belts, the program is positioned to build on this momentum heading into 2026.
