BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield College women's basketball team is once again Mid-East Regional Champions of the National Christian College Athletic Association. The Rams defeated Alice Lloyd College 67-45, Saturday, March 4 at the Dome to gain the automatic berth to the NCCAA Tournament in Winona Lake, Indiana. It is the second consecutive year the Rams have advanced to the finals.
Bluefield controlled throughout, rolling to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter and building a 35-17 lead at the half. The second half saw the Rams continue their domination as Coach
Corey Mullins was able to get playing time for all on the roster in the second half.
Whitney Smith, in her final game in the Dome, had a team-high 12 points along with six rebounds.
Emily Hart came off the bench to have a team-high seven rebounds. Thirteen of the 15 Bluefield players made their mark in the scoring column.
The Rams now await pairings for the NCCAA tournament, which begins March 15.
