Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield College softball team opened the 2017 season with a sweep of Asbury College, 6-0, 14-3, Saturday afternoon at Graham Recreation Park.
In the first game the Rams scored early when
Kaitlyn Pennington got a one-out single in the first and eventually scored when
Kristen Murphy bunted her home with the first run of the game and season. Pennington scored again in the second inning and finished game one with a pair of hits and three runs scored.
Cameron Pearson, making her Bluefield College debut, gained the shutout victory in the circle and aided her cause with a pair of hits. Pearson tossed a two-hitter and struck out four Eagles.
In game two the Rams scored three in the first and seven in the second as they rolled to victory. Pennington had three hits, including a pair of doubles and Pearson had a double and a single as did
Mary Blake Avery.
Megan Arrington picked up a pair of singles.
Daelyn Hedger got the victory in the circle in her first game as a Ram. She allowed three runs on three hits and struck out two.
The Rams are 2-0 and host Bluefield State, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at Graham Rec Park.
