Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. - After falling in overtime in the opening round of the NCCAA Tournament, the Bluefield College women's basketball team rebounded in the consolation round Thursday morning and defeated No. 5 seed and Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Point 51-43. With the win No. 8 seed Bluefield advances to play No. 3 seed Emmanuel (Ga.) for fifth place, Friday evening at 5 p.m.
The Rams took control in the first quarter, running out to a 15-9 lead after the first 10 minutes. In the second it was Point who took over, holding BC to only one basket, by Adrianne Goodlet with 1:32 left in the quarter. The Skyhawks led 24-17 at the half.
Bluefield came out strong in the second half, out-scoring Point 34-19 to get the 51-43 win.
The Rams' victory was the second in three weeks over a higher seeded Point squad in tournament action. BC defeated Point on Feb. 25 in the opening round of the AAC Tournament. Point was seeded fourth, Bluefield fifth.
Monique Robson topped the BC scoring column with 14 points. She also had five assists, five rebounds and a pair of steals. Shelby Key tossed in 12. Kierra Bell-Linnear led the Rams with eight rebounds and Courtney Kendrick pulled down seven.
Candace Rhodes led Point with 18 points.
