Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD, Va. - The Rams softball team dropped both games to conference foe Point University on Friday afternoon. The Rams fell short losing game one 1-0 before the Skyhawks' bats came alive for the 12-1 win in game two.
Baily Garin received the loss in the circle for the Rams in game one. The defense for BC was solid, as Point scattered six hits in the game. The lone run that was scored came in the third inning for Point. Alexis Duncan reached first on a walk, moved to second when Jasmine Sydnor walked, and then scored on Shea Pendley's single to left field. The Rams' offense struggled as
Kaitlyn Pennington and
Morgan Sawyers were the only two BC batters with a hit in the game.
In game two, BC still couldn't string any timely hits together. Five Rams had a hit in the game, Garin's solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth would account for the only run BC scored. On the mound,
Alexandra Bartley got the loss. Point scored 12 runs on 16 hits in the game, and Ryan Simpson earned the win in the circle.
The two losses drop the Rams to 7-11 on the season, and 0-4 in AAC play. Point improved to 16-8 on the year, and 4-0 in AAC play. The Rams will travel to West Virginia Tech Saturday for a double-header at 2:00 and 4:00.
