FERRUM, Va. – Bluefield College's softball team opened the 2016 season Saturday afternoon at Ferrum and dropped a pair of games, 7-1 and 12-3.
In game one Baily Garin was 2-for-3 at the plate for BC. Brienna Sparks suffered the loss as she worked four innings. Sparks allowed five hits and struck out two.
Ferrum's Lindsey Slover and Miyana Ross were each 3-for-4 at the dish. Courtney Rudd pitched six innings of six-hit ball to pick up the win.
In game two the Rams managed four hits, by Eryn Haley, Mary Blake Avery, Morgan Sawyers and Kena Denton. Haley was tagged with the loss while Ferrum's Amanda Roberts got the win in the five-inning game.
The Rams return to the diamond, Saturday, Feb. 27 at Bryan in their AAC opener.
