Women stop St. Andrews in Think Pink Game

Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. – Danae Cox fired in a career-high 25 points while Deneysha Goods added 11 and Monique Robson 10 to lead the Bluefield College women to a 71-60 win over the St. Andrews Knights, Wednesday evening at the Dome Gymnasium.
BC took command from the opening tip and rolled out to a 17-2 lead and held a 17-4 advantage after the first period.  The Rams lead grew as high as 30 points in the second quarter before they carried a 42-19 lead into the halftime break. Cox had 16 first half points including three treys and Robson had 10 points with five rebounds in the first 20 minutes.
Bluefield shot 46 percent in the opening half compared to 22 percent for St. Andrews. BC made an amazing 42 percent of its shots from behind the three point line and also won the rebounding battle in 21-14 and forced 11 turnovers.
Coach Corey Mullins was able to provide valuable playing time for his roster as the team prepares for next week's Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament in Kingsport, Tenn., as each player logged at least six minutes of playing time.
Goods finished with a team-high nine rebounds and Courtney Kendrick cleared the glass seven times. Whitney Smith had three blocks and two steals while Cox, Goods and Maryah Mazyck each had three assists.
St. Andrews was led by Alana Artis with 15 points. Alexis Redd added 13 along with five rebounds and four steals, while Alexus Davis had a game-high 10 rebounds.
It was Think Pink for Cancer Night at the Dome and the Bluefield women wore uniforms with pink numerals and lettering in honor of those who have and are battling cancer.
The Rams moved to 16-10 overall and 11-8 in the AAC and host Washington Adventist University on Thursday in the final home regular season game of the year. Tip-off is at 5:30 and it will be Senior Night.
St. Andrews dropped to 2-24 overall and 0-20 in conference games.
