Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. - The Bluefield College women's basketball team pulled away late in the game and gained a 54-44 victory over West Virginia University Tech in the Rams' home opener, Wednesday night at the Dome.
The Rams and Golden Bears both fought hard, neither team able to gain a commanding advantage. Deep into the fourth quarter, Bluefield was finally able to distance themselves and pull away with the victory.
After going 11-3 at home last season, the Rams continued their strong play within the Dome. A good-sized crowd exploded multiple times during the game highlighted by not one, but two and-one's from Autumn Hash.
Danae Cox led all scorers with 16 points including some clutch, late fourth quarter free-throw shooting. Hash had a solid game, totaling seven points and seven rebounds, to go along with a block. Valerie Lebedeva made a big impact in limited minutes, going three for three from beyond the arc for nine points. Whitney Smith pitched in with eight.  Hannah Preservati distributed nicely, gathering six assists.
The Rams improved to 2-0 on the season and are back in action Saturday as they take on Point Park University at noon in the Dome.
