BLUEFIELD, Va. – The women's basketball team welcomed the Bluefield State Lady Blues to the Dome for the Battle of the Bluefields and were victorious in a 65-45 contest Wednesday evening.
The Rams got back over .500 on the season, thanks to a balanced offensive attack. Danae Cox went down early in the first quarter with an injury but the Rams bench played a key role in the victory.
Bluefield State struggled from the floor, shooting just 22%. The Rams shot 32% from the floor, and capitalized on their free throws, shooting 80% from the line.
Shekinah Huggins led all scorers with 12 points. Autumn Hash and Courtney Kendrick both played a hard, physical game, each totaling six points and seven rebounds. Deneysha Goods stepped in for Cox, scoring nine points for the Rams. Emily Hart had a great game off the bench, scoring six points, adding four assists, providing lots of hustle and energy.
BC will head to Georgia on Saturday to take on AAC opponent Point University, tipping off at 2 P.M.
