Rams get to the Point

Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. - The Bluefield College men's basketball team opened Appalachian Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon with a 76-62 win over the Point University Skyhawks at the Dome Gymnasium. Joseph McClain dropped in a game-high 23 points and Zeke Williams added 22 to pace the Rams to victory.
BC controlled the tempo in the first half, breaking a 15-15 tie and going on a 18-2 run that enabled the Rams to carry a 33-17 lead into the intermission. However, in the second half the Skyhawks diced into the Bluefield lead. Up by 20 midway through the second half, Point pulled to within three at 51-48 before the Rams regrouped and closed out the game on a 25-14 spurt to claim the victory.
Alonzo Howard topped the rebound column for BC with nine boards and McClain pulled down six. It was Point, however, who won the rebounding battle, 30-28.
With the win the Rams improved to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the AAC. Point dropped to 0-10 and is 0-1 in league play.
Bluefield College is idle until Friday, Nov. 28 when it hosts the Bowen Classic at the Dome Gymnasium. The first game at 5 p.m. will pit University of the Cumberlands against Allen University, while the Rams take on Martin Methodist in the nightcap. Saturday afternoon Cumberlands will face Martin Methodist in the opening game and BC wraps up the event with a game against Allen.
