Box Score BLUEFIELD, Va. –
Zeke Williams led a quartet of Bluefield College scorers in double digits as the Rams opened the 2015-16 men's basketball season with a 102-65 win over the Central Penn College Knights, Wednesday night at the Dome Gymnasium.
Bluefield controlled the game from the opening tip, opening a double-digit lead early in the first half and never looking back. At the break the Rams held a 46=26 lead. In the second half the Rams increased their lead as high as 37 points, which proved to be the final margin of victory.
In addition to winning on the scoreboard, Bluefield held the edge in rebounding 32-28, with 22 of those 32 boards coming on the defensive end of the floor. The visiting Knights shot only 31 percent from the field for the game while the Rams made 45 percent of their shots.
Williams led the way for Bluefield with 23 points and six boards.
Teyon Henry scored 17 while
Stanthony Nelms and
Sidney Knox added 11 apiece. All 12 Bluefield players scored in the game with
Joseph McClain just missing getting into double figures with nine points. McClain had five rebounds, as did
Shakeem Asiedu.
Khadier Fulcher led Bluefield's rebounding efforts with eight.
John Starks Jr., led Central Penn with 17 points. Tyree Tucker and Dominique Twiggs each added 14.
The Rams are now 1-0 on the season and return to the court Saturday, Nov. 7 at Ohio Christian University. Central Penn finishes its southern road trip with an 0-2 mark, having lost Tuesday night at Pikeville.
