The Bluefield College softball team dropped its final four Mid-South Conference road games on Friday and Saturday, falling in a pair of games to both Rio Grande and Shawnee State.

Rio Grande
In the first game against Rio on Friday, the RedStorm's Jenna Jones hurled a no-hitter against the Lady Rams.

Ali Bartley was in the circle for BC, allowing four runs on six hits as URG took the win.

In game two, BC was able to scatter six hits in the game, scoring four runs.

The Lady Rams got out to a 2-0 start in the first, scoring a pair of runs on two hits and also benefitting from three Rio Grande errors. Kasey Holcomb led off the game with a single and later scored on a Morgan Stephens single to right. Stephens crossed the plate as Bartley reached on an error.

The RedStorm came back with a single run in the second and three runs in the third for a 4-2 lead. Rio then slapped four hits and scored five runs in the fifth to break the game open, 9-2.

BC posted two more runs in the sixth. Madison Fielder drove in one, while another run scored on another Rio error.

Rio answered back with two runs in the bottom half. BC was held in check in the seventh, earning URG the 11-4 win.

Shawnee State
Bluefield started strong with a pair of runs to open against Shawnee State. Holcombe kicked things off with a double and advanced thanks to a Kattie Evans sacrifice bunt. Aline Uehara reached on a fielder's choice, but no outs were gained for SSU. Stephens and Brienna Sparks provided back-to-back singles to make it a 2-0 game.

Shawnee answered with a single run in the bottom half, then put together a five-run second inning to take a 6-2 lead.

The lead was extended to 7-2 with a run in the fifth for the Bears, while BC tallied one more in the top of the sixth thanks to a Uehara home run to lead off the inning.

SSU took the win, 7-3.

In game two, SSU grabbed a 5-0 lead before Bluefield posted its only run of the game in the top of the fourth. Uehara and Stephens led off the inning with back-to-back singles, while a Sparks groundout plated Uehara.

The Bears wrapped up the game with a four-run fifth inning, claiming the 9-1 victory in five.

Bluefield concludes it's regular season schedule at home this weekend, hosting St. Catharine on Friday at 1 p.m. and Campbellsville at Noon, Saturday.
