EMORY, Va. – Bluefield scored a pair of runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to earn a 4-2 win in game one, while the hosting Emory & Henry squad took the finale, 11-0 in five innings, in a non-conference softball matchup Tuesday afternoon.

Ali Bartley went 3-for-4 in game one, tallying three of BC's four RBI. Morgan Stephens also tallied a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 in the victory. Aline Uehara provided an RBI, going 1-for-2 in game one, being walked twice and scoring two runs as well.

Brienna Sparks secured the win in the circle, hurling all seven innings. The freshman allowed two runs on seven hits, striking out four.

Game One
Emory & Henry tallied the first run of the game in the third inning, as a leadoff single was followed by a double for the 1-0 lead.

Bluefield had just two hits through the first five innings, but began to find its offense in the sixth. Kasey Holcomb began the sixth with a walk, and Uehara promptly followed with an RBI double to square the game at 1-1.

A groundout advanced Uehara to third, and Bartley provided the go-ahead RBI with a single down the left field line. While BC looked to continue the rally, a strikeout and a fielder's choice at second stranded three runners for the Lady Rams.

Emory & Henry threatened in the bottom half, but were held to just one run to tie the game, 2-2. A bases-loaded walk squared the game, but a strike out, force play at the plate and a pop out got Sparks out of the bases loaded jam and limited the damage.

With one out, Uehara drew a walk, then advanced to third on a Stephens double. Bartley notched her final hit of the game, scoring both Uehara and Stephens on a single to center field.

E&H notched a leadoff single, but Sparks' final strikeout, a ground out to second and a pop out in the infield sealed the 4-2 win for BC.

Game Two
E&H jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead through the first two innings, forcing a Uehara to relieve starting pitcher Anna Davis through 1-1/3 innings in the circle.

The hosts only posted two runs the rest of the way, but BC struggled to find its offense and only tallied three hits through the five inning contest.

Two runs in the fourth and another scoreless frame from BC in the fifth earned E&H the 11-0 win in five innings.

Bluefield hits the road on Friday for a challenging weekend on the road. The squad will open at #9 Lindsey Wilson College (25-3, 11-1 MSC) before playing two games at Cumberland University (21-10-1, 9-7 MSC) on Saturday.
