Jacob Schober went 5-for-6 at the plate and scored five runs on the day. He also tallied four RBI, including a three-run homer in the ninth inning.

Chris McCollister, Jacob Wright and Daniel Copeland each had three hits on the day, while Sawyer McLamb and Kahlin Villines each had two hits.

The Rams opened scoring in the top of the second inning, beginning with a Schober single. Wright reached on an error, before a sacrifice bunt from Copeland advanced both runners. A Tyler Timmer triple to deep right field brought both runners in and gave BC a 2-0 lead.

Two more runs came in the third, as the inning began with a leadoff walk to Zac Russell-Myers. A Schober triple scored Russell-Myers, then a Wright single gave BC a 4-0 lead.

Shockey continued to keep the Bears scoreless, moving through the third and fourth innings allowing just one hit.

Bluefield then went for five hits in the fifth inning, and doubled their lead to 8-0. Schober and Wright began the inning with a single and double, while a third straight hit from Copeland scored Schober. A Timmer sacrifice fly brought Wright across the plate. Villines added a RBI single later on, and McCollister did the same.

The Bears tallied a pair of hits in the fifth, but a pickoff and fly out ended the inning.

UPike made a pitching change in the sixth, and BC tallied one more run as Copeland drove in Schober after he had singled and advanced on a groundout.

The Bears' lone run came in the bottom half of the frame, with a BC error helping their cause.

Bluefield tacked on its final three runs in the top of the ninth, as Schober finished off his strong day with a three-run home run, driving in Andrew Ewing and Russell-Myers.

Shockey finished the complete game by striking out two more and getting a fielder's choice to end the game.

Bluefield finally opens its 2014 home slate on Monday, squaring off against Ohio State Lima. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. at Bowen Field.
