Bluefield Concludes Doubleheader at No. 9 Tennessee Wesleyan

ATHENS, Tenn. – The Bluefield Rams dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader to No. 9 Tennessee Wesleyan at Athens Insurance Stadium.

Game One: Tennessee Wesleyan 9 – Bluefield 2

BU stayed within striking distance early before Tennessee Wesleyan used a big sixth inning to pull away in the opener.

The Bulldogs took a 2–0 lead in the first, but Bluefield answered in the third when Josh Holland drove in a run to cut the deficit to 2–1.

Tennessee Wesleyan extended its lead to 3–1 in the fourth before breaking the game open in the sixth with five runs, capitalizing on walks and timely hitting to push the advantage to 8–1.

The Rams added a run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Cody Crafton, but could not generate further offense.

Dylan Dotson led BU at the plate with two hits, while Crafton recorded the lone RBI. Holland, Jordan Ramsey, Evan Leese, and Grayson Surratt each added hits as Bluefield finished with seven.

Raymond Smith took the loss after allowing six runs over 5.1 innings. Noah Burtner and Tyler Rakes combined to provide relief.

Game Two: Tennessee Wesleyan 8 – Bluefield 0

Game Two saw Tennessee Wesleyan take control early and maintain the lead throughout.

The Bulldogs plated two runs in the second inning and added two more in the third to build a 4–0 advantage. They broke the game open in the sixth inning to hold onto a 8-0 victory.

Bluefield was limited to five hits in the contest. Michael Royston led the offense with a double, while Nick Stergiou, Sean Cherry, Cody Crafton, and Dylan Dotson each recorded hits.

Ryan Cowell took the loss after allowing four runs over four innings. Tyler Rakes pitched two innings in relief.

The Rams return to action Tuesday when they travel to face WVU Tech at 1 p.m.
