Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BLUEFIELD, Va. – The Rams baseball squad swept its two-day, four-game set with Ohio State University Lima following 11-3 and 13-12 victories on Tuesday afternoon at Bowen Field.

While game one was a runaway win—just like Monday's pair of games—the Rams needed three runs in the bottom of the seventh to fend off the Barons for the 13-12 victory.

Dylan Cole pitched the complete game (7 innings) in the opener, giving up just one earned run while striking out five. The Barons scored six runs on starter Jacob Wright in game two, with Cory Niten finishing the final 6-1/3 of the ballgame, also allowing six runs but picking up the win.

Zac Russell-Myers went 6-for-7 in the designated hitter spot for the Rams, tallying two RBI in game one and scoring six runs—three in each game—on the day.

Tyler Timmer also had a strong day at the plate, going 4-for-6, including a clutch RBI double in the seventh inning of game two.

Kahlin Villines picked up his third home run in the last two days, firing a three-run shot over the left field fence in the first inning of game two.

Game 1
The Rams opened up a healthy 10-1 lead through the first three innings of play, tallying a pair of runs in the first, five in the fifth and three more in the third.

Russell-Myers' single scored Sawyer McLamb for the first run of the game, while Timmer's single later in the frame drove Russell-Myers across the plate for a 2-0 lead.

Bluefield's five-run second inning came on three hits, but the Rams also benefitted from a wild pitch a pair of walks and an OSU-Lima error, which tallied the final two runs of the inning.

A Barons' miscue once again helped BC score in the third, as an errant throw allowed McCollister to come home. A Jacob Wright single later in the inning drove home two for the 10-1 BC lead.

The Rams tacked on one more in the bottom of the sixth, with McLamb legging out a triple and Ben Rife providing the sacrifice fly.

The Barons tallied a pair of runs in the final frame, using a pair of BC errors to score twice. A groundout to second closed the game and gave BC the 11-3 win.

Game 2
The Barons finally found some offense in the final game of the series, tallying 12 hits in the game

OSU-Lima placed six runs on the scoreboard in the opening inning, but the Barons did so on just two hits. Starting pitcher Wright tallied three hit batsmen and walked two, while a catcher's interference and an infield error also assisted the Barons in placing six runs on the board.

Niten came in and provided a strikeout to close the frame.

Bluefield responded quickly with seven runs in the bottom half, leading to a 40-minute opening inning of play. The Rams hammered out five hits in the inning, but also got help from the Barons, who committed a pair of errors.

A McLamb double scored the first two for the Rams, while Villines' three-run homer later earned BC the 7-6 lead.

Bluefield added two more in the second, with a wild throw on a steal attempt allowing one to score and advancing Russell-Myers to third base. Jacob Schober followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 9-6, Rams.

After the Barons plated a run in the third and BC a run in the fourth, OSU-Lima began to crawl back into the game.

The Barons scored two in the fifth, one in the sixth and two more in the seventh to overtake the Rams, 12-10.

But, BC answered the call in the bottom half. McLamb was hit by a pitch to begin the inning. Daniel Copeland and Timmer then provided back-to-back doubles to square the game, 12-12, with no outs.

A pair of pop ups to shallow right followed. Tyler Rome sent a hard grounder to shortstop, but the Baron's defenseman came up a bit too early and the ball snuck under the glove and into the outfield. Timmer, raced around third and scored for the 13-12 win.

BC is slated to be back at Bowen Field on Thursday, hosting Ohio State University Mansfield at Noon for a doubleheader.
