EMORY, Va. –
Alex Lubsey went a perfect 10-for-10 from the floor and 7-for-7 from the line for a game high 27 points, Tuesday night, lifting Bluefield past Emory & Henry, 99-70 at the John Rutledge King Center.
Â
Lubsey helped the Rams overwhelm the Wasps inside, outscoring the hosts in the paint 28-16.
Kearsten Marion added 20 in the victory, shooting 9-for-15 from the floor. Seven more Rams added at least five points on the night.
Â
Bluefield shot a season-best 58.5% (38-for-65) in the win and was a perfect 16-for-16 at the charity stripe. The Rams knocked down 7-of-20 (35%) attempts from behind the arc.
Â
Devin Page pulled down a game high nine rebounds, helping BC outrebound E&H, 37-30.
Â
The teams kept even through the opening stages of the game, until the Rams reeled off an 8-0 run to go up 24-13. A layin from
Ederson Exume started the rally, followed by a bucket from Marion then another from Exume.
Kyle Grisby pushed the lead to 11 with a layin with 10:20 to play in the first.
Â
But, over the next three minutes of play, the hosts answered back with a 14-2 rally to overtake BC 27-26.
Â
The lead was short-lived though, with Lubsey converting a three-point play on a hoop and harm on the Rams' next possession.
Â
Bluefield posted seven points in just over a minute's time to extend a three-point lead to double-figures with 3:02 left in the half. BC closed the final 4:17 on an 18-7 run for a 53-39 lead at the break.
Â
The Rams' 14-point lead at the break was the closest the Wasps would be for the remainder of the night, with BC's lead hovering in the 20s for nearly all of the second half.
Â
Marion added four steals on the evening, with BC forcing 14 of the Wasps' 18 turnovers.
Â
Emory & Henry was led by Malcolm Green's 12 points. The Wasps shot 27-for-60 (45%) for the game, and just 12-for-25 from the line.
