CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Bluefield University men's volleyball team dropped a three-set match to Life University on Saturday afternoon, falling 25-19, 25-17, 25-15.
With the loss, the Rams move to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Bluefield totaled 23 kills on 87 attempts in the contest, finishing with a .057 team hitting percentage. The Rams showed their best offensive rhythm in the second set, hitting .226 with 11 kills, but were unable to slow Life's efficient attack, as the Running Eagles hit .269 for the match.
Mason Lloyd and Kari Williams paced the BU offense with eight kills apiece. Jamareous Ryan added three kills on a .333 clip, while Kemani Riley contributed four kills and hit .250.
Benedict Somes directed the offense with 17 assists and added two digs. Defensively, the Rams recorded 30 digs, led by Ima Catalon's seven and Zach Malavite's six. Richard Cisneros and Mamadou Dieng each contributed at the net as Bluefield finished with six total blocks.
Life was powered by Jan Burhardt's 15 kills on a blistering .824 hitting percentage, helping the Running Eagles secure the sweep.
BU will look to regroup Thursday when the Rams travel to Midway for a 5 p.m. first serve.
