Rams Defeat Midway in Four Sets on the Road

MIDWAY, Ky. – The Bluefield University men's volleyball team earned a road victory Thursday evening, defeating Midway in four sets, 25-17, 25-15, 21-25, 25-19.

With the win, the Rams improve to 3-6 overall on the season.

Bluefield put together one of its most efficient offensive performances of the year, finishing with 55 kills on a .310 hitting percentage. The Rams were especially sharp in the second and fourth sets, hitting .440 and .407, respectively, to seize control of the match.

Kari Williams and Mason Lloyd led the offensive attack in dominant fashion. Williams recorded a match-high 20 kills while hitting .316, adding five digs and three block assists. Lloyd followed closely with 16 kills on just 24 swings, posting an impressive .583 hitting percentage to go along with six digs and two service aces.

Benedict Somes orchestrated the offense with 37 assists and added two service aces, helping BU tally 52 total assists as a team. The Rams also applied steady pressure from the service line, recording 11 aces in the match. Zach Malavite contributed five aces, while Somes and Lloyd each added two.

At the net, Bluefield totaled 8 blocks, with Richard Cisneros leading the way with five block assists. Mamadou Dieng chipped in four kills on a .500 clip in limited action, and Kemani Riley added five kills.

Defensively, the Rams collected 36 digs, with Lloyd and Jadyn McCrory each posting six.

BU will look to carry the momentum into Friday when the Rams travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to face St. Thomas at 12 p.m.
