Bluefield Opens 2026 Season With 13–5 Win at Toccoa Falls

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. – The Bluefield Rams erupted for 13 runs on 14 hits to open the 2026 season, pulling away for a 13–5 victory over Toccoa Falls College on Friday afternoon in the opener of a three-game series.

After falling behind early, Bluefield flipped the momentum in the fourth inning with a five-run outburst. Dylan Dotson delivered the big swing of the frame, clearing the bases with a three-run double, while Cody Crafton added a two-run double later in the inning to give the Rams a 5–4 lead they would not relinquish.

The Rams continued to add on, scoring one run in the fifth before posting three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. Jordan Ramsey powered the offense with a two-run home run, while Chris Johnson stayed hot at the plate throughout the afternoon.

Johnson finished 4-for-6 with two runs scored, two RBIs, and a double to lead all hitters. Sean Cherry added a 2-for-5 performance with a walk, stolen base, and RBI, while Dotson totaled three RBIs on his bases-clearing double. Ramsey drove in two runs and recorded BU's lone home run of the game. Crafton also chipped in with a two-RBI double as part of the Rams' four extra-base hits on the day.

On the mound, Ryan Cowell earned the win in his first start of the season, allowing four runs (three earned) over four innings while striking out five. Bluefield's bullpen was dominant, as Brent Avery, Noah Burtner, Brandon Poole, and Raymond Smith Jr. combined to hold Toccoa Falls to just one run over the final five innings.

Bluefield capitalized defensively as well, taking advantage of five Toccoa Falls errors and consistently applying pressure throughout the contest.

The Rams continue their season-opening series at Toccoa Falls on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
