WALESKA, Ga. – Freshman setter Kylee Sturgill of the Bluefield University women's volleyball team has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Setter of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Sturgill, a native of Norton, Va., played a key role in BU's 3-0 sweep of Sweet Briar, recording 19 assists, five service aces, and one dig.

She assisted on 19 of Bluefield's 30 kills in the season-opening match, which also marked her collegiate debut. Four of her five aces came in the third set, helping the Rams close out the sweep. Her serving performance contributed to Bluefield's 28 service aces as a team—their most in a match since at least the 2022-23 season.

Bluefield will host cross-town rival Bluefield State on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. before welcoming Sweet Briar on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. inside The Dome Gymnasium.
