Rams Split Their First Series of the Season!

The Rams hit the road earlier this week for a doubleheader against Alice Lloyd College in Hindman, Kentucky. The Rams showcased their resilience, narrowly dropping Game 1 before bouncing back in dominant fashion to take Game 2.

Game 1: Hard-Fought Battle Ends in a Close Loss

Bluefield displayed grit and determination in the opener but came up just short, falling 5-4 in a tight contest. The Rams' offense remained persistent, collecting six hits and four runs, with Alexis McDuffie leading the charge with two RBIs. Their late push kept the pressure on Alice Lloyd, demonstrating their never-give-up attitude.

Pitcher Hallie Cox turned in a strong start, throwing five solid innings before Isabella Smith took over in relief. The defense made impressive plays throughout the game, showing discipline and teamwork, but Alice Lloyd managed to hold on to their slim lead.

Game 2: Rams Dominate in Statement Win

In the second game, Bluefield roared back with an explosive offensive performance, securing a well-earned 9-7 victory. The Rams' bats came alive, racking up nine runs on eight hits. Freshman catcher Chloe Dillow had a standout performance in her collegiate debut going 2-for-4 with five RBIs, including a clutch home run and a double. Hannah Hayes also made a big impact, tallying two hits and three RBIs to fuel the Rams' offensive surge.

On the mound, Ali Glover and Isabella Smith combined efforts to shut down Alice Lloyd's offense. Glover set the tone early, and Smith delivered in relief, striking out four batters in 2.2 innings of stellar work to seal the win for Bluefield.

Looking Ahead

They now set their sights on their next challenge, ready to build on their Game 2 success. They will travel down to South Carolina to face Columbia College on February 28th and will then turn around and play Columbia International University on March 1st.
