Rams Endure Tough Loss Against #3 Tennessee Wesleyan

Bluefield, VA – The Rams faced a formidable challenge on the field, falling to the #3 ranked Tennessee Wesleyan University by a score of 6-0. Aware of TWU's strength from past seasons, the Rams knew this would be a tough match.

The game started quickly for TWU, who found the back of the net just 10 minutes in. They continued their offensive onslaught, scoring three more goals before halftime to establish a commanding 4-0 lead. The second half saw TWU add two more goals, bringing their total to 42 shots on goal for the match.

Despite the score, Rams goalkeeper Autumn Matthews delivered an impressive performance, recording 18 saves. Alongside her defense, they did their best to fend off TWU's relentless attack, but the strength of the TWU offense proved overwhelming.

The Rams struggled offensively, failing to register a single shot as TWU's defense played tightly, stifling any opportunities to counterattack.

Coach Patrick Ritter shared his thoughts,"We knew this was going to be a tough week of games playing two of the best teams in the conference. We worked on being more physical on set pieces today and were able to find some success in that aspect. We will continue to work on and grow in our attack against the top teams to find ways to score with limited opportunities.  Everyone pushing hard for 90 minutes against a team like Tennessee Wesleyan will help set us up for success as we progress in our conference play."

Looking to rebound, the Rams will host Milligan University at home on Wednesday, September 25, at 5 PM. With renewed determination, they aim to get back on the winning track.
