Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD – Bluefield University Rams baseball split a doubleheader with the St. Andrews University Knights, Thursday at Bowen Field. The Rams took the opener 4-0 while the Knights claimed the second game 8-2. Friday's series finale was postponed due to rain. With the win BU head coach
Mike White inched closer to the 500-win mark. The victory gave the veteran coach 492 wins as the leader of the Rams.
GAME ONE
BLUEFIELD 4, ST. ANDREWS 0
INSIDE THE GAME
- The Rams took a 2-0 lead in the third with a two-run home run by Andres Vega.
- BU added two in the seventh on run-scoring singles by Nick Guerra and Johnny Medina.
- Defense helped preserve the shutout as the Rams nailed runners twice at the plate.
- SAU threatened on several occasions with the bases loaded, but timely pitching and defense prevailed for BU.
LEADERS
- Bryce Dees improved hit pitching record to 5-1 on the season. Dees worked six innings, allowed three hits and struck out three.
- Tyrone Woods hurled the final three frames to get his first save of the season. Woods allowed two hits and struck out five.
- Vega was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in.
- Guerra was also 2-for-4 with an RBI.

INSIDE THE GAME
- The Knights jumped to a 4-0 lead after their first two at-bats.
- BU's only runs came on small ball in with one in the second on a fielder's choice by Matt Beisecker, and the other in the third on an SAU error.
LEADERS
- Guerra continued his hot day, going 3-for-4 at the plate.
- Brady Joslyn was 2-for-2.

- The Rams head to Ohio for a pair of midweek games. Tuesday the Rams visit Rio Grande. The road trip continues on Wednesday at Ohio Christian.
