Rams take series at Carolina

MOCKSVILLE, N.C. – Bluefield University baseball wrapped up its first series of the season with a doubleheader, Saturday at Carolina University. The Rams took game one of the twinbill 3-1 but fell 10-2 in game two. Coupled with Friday's victory, the Rams took the three-game series two games to one.
GAME ONE
BLUEFIELD 3, CAROLINA 1
INSIDE THE GAME
  • The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Johnny Medina came home on a fielder's choice by Dylan Cutler.
  • The Bruins knotted the score at one in the sixth.
  • Bluefield took the lead in the top of the seventh on a two-run double by Nick Guerra.
  • Noah Burtner came on in the bottom of the seventh and struck out two batters.
LEADERS
  • Bryce Dees pitched five innings and allowed one hit with three strikeouts to get the pitching victory.
  • Burtner struck out two and earned the save.
  • Guerra was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in.
GAME 2
CAROLINA 10, BLUEFIELD 2
INSIDE THE GAME
  • BU took a 1-0 lead in the firs when Moises Aristy scored on an RBI single by Johnny Medina.
  • CU tied the game in the third, added two more in the fourth, one in the fifth, and put the game away with six runs in the sixth.
  • The Rams were held to four hits in the game.
LEADERS
  • Aristy, Medina, Andreas Vega, and Bryce Medlock had hits for the Rams.
NEXT IN LINE
  • The Rams open a three-game set at Bowen Field against Concordia (Michigan). The teams play a single game Friday at 2 p.m., and a doubleheader Saturday, starting at 1:00.
