Ackworth, GA – The Rams women's golf team showcased their potential at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Fall Preview, held in Ackworth, Georgia. In just their third season as a program, the team continues to make impressive strides, led by a youthful roster that includes only one junior among their ranks.
Head Coach Andy Sawyers, who is in his first year with the Rams, shared his thoughts on the team's performance and aspirations for the upcoming Spring season. "This is the first year that we've had a full women's team. Although we were missing one player due to injury, I was pleased with how the team performed overall. We hit the ball well but faced challenges with consistency and putting on the fast greens," he noted. "Our great team chemistry gives me hope for a productive off-season where we can improve both individually and collectively, setting us up for a strong Spring season."
The Rams finished 9th overall in the competition, with key contributions from several players. Lindsey Howlett, who previously earned AAC Women's Golfer of the Week honors this season, led the team with an 87. Emma Vickers followed closely with a 90, while Stella Gunter, Tristen Gillenwater, and Lexi Sandlin rounded out the scores with 120, 132, and 155, respectively.
As the team looks ahead, their focus will be on honing their skills during the off-season to ensure a competitive Spring season. With the foundation being laid and the right mindset in place, the Rams are poised for continued growth and success in the future.
