BLUEFIELD – Nathan Herstich passed for an Appalachian Athletic Conference record 467 yards and four touchdowns and set the record for pass completions and attempts.
Jewels Gray caught an AAC record 11 passes, but he and the Bluefield University Rams fell to the NAIA #11 team, Lindsey Wilson College 45-28, Saturday afternoon at Mitchell Stadium. Herstich's 467 yards passing was a yard short of the Bluefield University record of 468 yards by Aiden Wilder against St. Andrews in 2019.
INSIDE THE GAME
- Lindsey Wilson took a 14-0 lead in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the game, driving the opening kickoff for a score, then blocking a BU punt and converting it to another TD.
- Bluefield got onto the board 90 seconds into the second quarter when Herstich connected with Gray for a touchdown. Isaiah Bandy kicked the extra point to make it 14-7.
- LWC went up 21-7 before Herstich passed 75 yards to Nate Monroe and Bandy's kick made it a seven-point game 21-14 as the teams went to halftime.
- The Blue Raiders got a TD and field goal in the third to make it 31-14.
- Herstich passed 43 yards to Zuriel Ebron and the kick made it 31-21.
- Lindsey Wilson got another TD on a fumble returned for a score and another TD pushed their lead to 45-21.
- The Rams closed out the scoring with Herstich's fourth TD pass and Monroe's second TD reception with 11 seconds left in the game.

- Herstich completed 30-of-57 passes for 467 yards and four touchdowns.
- Gray caught 11 passes for 150 yards and a touchdown.
- Monroe grabbed eight passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns.
- Mykkel Banks had 13 tackles.
