BLUEFIELD – BU women's basketball dropped its home opener, Saturday, 73-66 to Truett McConnell University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest.
INSIDE THE GAME

• The Rams held a 19-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and were up 37-30 at the half.
• The Bears took control in the third, outscored the Rams 24-12 to take a lead they did not relinquish.

LEADERS

• Destiny Long led Bluefield with 18 points, eight rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
• Emily Breeding added 10 points and a pair of boards.
• Katelyn Norman had seven rebounds to go with eight points.

NEXT IN LINE

• The Rams 0-2 in the AAC and 0-4 overall, host St. Andrews, Tuesday in an AAC game. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 at the Dome Gymnasium.
