Rams cage up Tigers

BLUEFIELD – Bluefield University women's basketball broke into the win column with an 84-68 win over the Brenau University Tigers, Saturday afternoon at the Dome Gymnasium. In addition to the win being the first of the season, it was the first for Rams head coach Markell Cox at Bluefield University.
INSIDE THE GAME
  • Brenau led 19-18 at the end of the first quarter.
  • The Tigers expanded their lead in the second as the Rams shot only 17% from the field in the second quarter. Brenau led 35-26 at halftime.
  • The Rams erased the deficit and stormed ahead by double digits in the third quarter, scoring 31 points on 61% shooting from the field.
  • Bluefield was near perfect shooting in the fourth quarter. The Rams made 9-of-10 shots in the period (90%).
LEADERS
  • Kylie Meadows, who scored her 1,000th career point last week at Point, collected a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds. She added two blocks and a steal. Meadows needs 181 points to reach 1,000 points at Bluefield University.
  • Emily Breeding sank four three-point shots and finished with 14 points.
  • Chase Dionio tallied 13 points.
  • Kiaa Boyd snagged eight rebounds.
  • Jaydn Hoover picked up three steals.

  • The Rams, 1-4 overall and 1-2 in AAC play, host Milligan University, Tuesday evening at 5:30.
