Rams joust KCU Knights

BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield University Rams defeated the Kentucky Christian University Knights in four sets tonight at the Dome 25-9, 21-25, 25-19, 25-5 for their fourth win in a row and sixth in their last seven matches.
Leslie Flores led the Rams with 13 kills and 12 digs. Aubri Whatcott led the offense with 32 assists followed by 13 kills from Jessica Wells and nine kills from Lauren Sotomayor. Adrianah Grajeda led defense with three blocks along with nine digs from Georgia Lewis and seven digs from Kassidy Brown. Alli Hawkins had four aces.
For the Knights, Darby Flickinger had 20 assists, Kristin Upshaw-Mendoza led with 12 kills, and Hannah Cron finished with eight digs.
Following the match, BU Head Coach Buddy Gallemore said, "We responded to them winning the second set and that mental toughness was essential to a successful match." Gallemore also praised his team for coming back and winning the succeeding two sets. Looking ahead to Thursday's contest against Carolina University, Gallemore said, "There cannot be any more mental lapses in order to beat the non-conference opponent." 
The Rams play Carolina University Thursday at 6:30 in the Dome.
Congratulations to Lauren Sotomayor for being named AAC Attacker of the Week and Aubri Whatcott AAC Setter of the Week. The Rams are now 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the AAC.
