Streak grows to five

Rams top Carolina in four sets

BLUEFIELD - Bluefield University women's volleyball won its fifth consecutive game and the seventh in their last eight matches, defeating Carolina University in four sets Thursday night at the Dome Gymnasium in a non-conference match.
The Rams came out on fire and rolled to a 12-2 lead in the opening set before the Bruins clawed back into the game. The Rams took set one 25-17. 
Carolina rebounded from its slow start and took the reins in the second set and claimed a 25-13 win to even the match. Bluefield powered its way to a 25-13 win in the third sets, and in the most exciting set of the night the Rams took a 27-25 win in the fourth to take the match.
Leslie Flores and Jessica Wells each had 14 kills and Lauren Sotomayor finished with 13. Flores, Morgan Coulter, and Georgia Lewis each had a pair of service aces, while Wells and Adrianah Grajeda each had a pair of blocks. Aubri Whatcott, the reigning AAC Setter of the Week dished out 36 assists. Flores finished with 14 digs.
For Carolina, Destinee Hardaman had 14 kills, Chiara Mottola four aces, Ariane Ramalho five blocks, Nicole Laezza 17 assists, and Reagan Adams 24 digs.
The Rams return to AAC play Saturday morning when Tennessee Wesleyan visits for a 10 a.m. match.
