Volleyball tops Johnson in five

Gallemore gets 100th coaching victory

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Bluefield University's women's volleyball picked up a five set win over Johnson University, Tuesday night and handed head coach Buddy Gallemore his 100th coaching victory.
The Rams took the first two sets 25-23 and 25-19 before the Royals took the next two sets 25-20 and 25-16. In the fifth and deciding set BU won 15-12 to take the match.
Aubri Whatcott led BU with 50 assists. Lauren Sotomayor was strong on the attack with 21 kills. Georgia Lewis had 31 digs and Leslie Flores added 26. Stephanie Reitzloff had a pair of blocks.
Jenson Davis had 16 kills for Johnson, while Hannah Lakey passed out 35 assists, and Brianna Connaster finished with 23 digs.
The victory gave Gallemore, in his seventh season at BU, his 100th career coaching win. The Rams, now 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, are back in action Friday night when Reinhardt University visits the Dome. Match time is 6:30 and only BU students, faculty, and staff will be admitted. Masks must be worn.
