Rams shoot down Eagles in three

BLUEFIELD - Bluefield University's women's volleyball picked up a win over Reinhardt University Friday night. The Ram's swept the Eagles in three sets 25-22, 25-18, and 25-22.
Aubri Whatcott led BU with 30 assists. Jessica Wells and Lauren Sotomayor led in kills with 13 each. Leslie Flores followed with seven kills and four digs. Georgia Lewis had eight digs and four aces. Adrianna Grajeda, Stephanie Reitzloff and Lauren Sotomayor each had a pair of blocks.
"It was great having our fans here to watch. They haven't seen our sophomores or our transfers from last year. Tonight we showed them what we can do and how we can play, and how good this program is," said Rams head coach Buddy Gallemore.
Gallemore continued, adding that it was a true team effort to get the win over Reinhardt.
"That was a team win. We can't win one-on-six. We had blocks. We had pick ups, picking up tips and consistent serving. The last few matches we haven't served as well as we could have. Tonight we served them out of system and that enables us to run our offense, get some blocks and score more points than them," Gallemore said.
Reinhardt finished with 20 assists from Taylor Sawdy, nine kills from Shelby Glowson, and four blocks from Abby Intante.
This was the first home victory for the 2021 season at BU. The Rams are now 6-6 overall and 3-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
